Bloodstock Agency Business For Sale as a Going Concern

2010-02-06

After much consideration I have made the decision to sell the domestic side of my Bloodstock Agency, to concentrate full time on the o'seas market(s).
The business incorporates among other things excellent goodwill, an extensive data base, an excellent web site, proven systems for sourcing and selling horses and numerous other relevant tangible and intangible assets.

This opportunity will allow the individual(s) to be self employed and/or supplement an existing income.
It will afford the person a high degree of freedom and good standard of living.
The business will be bought as a profitable going concern and as the business has been operating for close to six years the start up costs and difficulties will be minimal.
They will be acquiring six years of experience, goodwill and other tangible and intangible assets that will allow for a smooth transition into the business.
There will be genuine business and income from day one - served to you on a plate.
There will be genuine referrals from myself on an on going basis.
Training and support will also be provided by myself on an on going basis.
If proven systems and processes are continued and enhanced there is no doubt that there is genuine scope for improvement in the number of horses sold, turnover and profit.
Having survived and thrived during the EI debacle and the recent Financial Crisis, the business has also proved itself to be genuinely recession proof.

Having some understanding and knowledge of the Thoroughbred Industry is an absolute must.
It will suit individuals looking to gain fast track knowledge and a solid foothold in the Bloodstock industry.
In my opinion it will also suit a family and/or an individual actually based in a rural or non eastern seaboard area. (i.e Perth, Darwin, Rocky, etc).
(Naturally these things take time so moving forward I am certainly still 'open for business' sourcing and selling horses for the domestic market)

For those who are genuinely interested please call me at any time.
Comprehensive financials, and other relevant and detailed information available
Genuine enquiries only please.

3 Year Old Triallers Wanted For HK, Singapore and Macau!!

2010-01-12

HK, Sing and Macau buyers are actively looking for 3yo triallers. Will pay six figure sums for the right horse.
Must have had an OFFICIAL trial (so buyers can view video footage) but must be unraced.
As a general rule of thumb horses must be at least 15.3 and 485kg. Colts and geldings only.
Goes without saying that each horse must pass a stringent vet examination, x-rays etc.

About Dave Mee

2010-01-12

Established in November 2005, Dave Mee Racehorse Sales Pty Ltd was formed with the clear aim of becoming one of Australasia's pre-eminent Bloodstock Agencies.
Dave Mee has two simple goals:

  1. To win Australasia’s major stake races with Racehorses he has directly been involved in selecting, purchasing and managing.
  2.  Maximizing returns for his clients in the commercial breeding industry.

Dave Mee grew up in New Zealand in a family involved in training and breeding horses. After completing a Marketing & Commerce degree he ventured overseas with the motivation and commitment to learn from the best thoroughbred businesses in North America and Europe. During his five years abroad he achieved this goal and worked for a number of very successful international agencies, stud farms and trainers. Of particular note were the two and a half years he spend working for the world's largest and most successful thoroughbred sales agency - Taylor Made Sales Agency (Kentucky  USA); Clive Brittain (Newmarket, UK), trainer of thirteen classic races throughout  Europe; and highly respected trainer and bloodstock agent, Eddie Woods (Florida USA).
Dave Mee set up his Bloodstock Agency specializing in selling Racehorses and Broodmare  Prospects after spending a number of  years working for several leading Sydney  trainers, with whom he still has a close association.

In just over three years, starting with a limited client base, Dave Mee has been directly involved with the private transactions of horses worth a total of just under Aus$10 million. Horses have been bought and sold throughout Australia, as well as New Zealand, USA, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia,  Korea and New Caledonia

Dave Mee Visits HK, Macau and Singapore In June and October 09

2009-10-30

On Oct 15 - 20, Dave Mee visited HK, Macau and Singapore to see exisiting clients as well endeavouring to establish and enhance relationships with additional individuals and syndicates seeking to purchase Australian racehorses.
Dave Mee's goal is to further develop the relationships between Asian racehorse buyers and Australian sellers.
While the demand for Australian racehorses is as solid as ever, for continued long term success, Dave Mee feels it important to relay to prospective Aus sellers the ideal 'type' of horse that Asian buyers are looking for.
Due to the high humidity, lack of space for spelling, the often wet tracks and general acclimatisation issues, Asian buyers generally prefer horses that meet the following criteria:

  • Mentally tough yet adaptable horses that possess a laid back disposition.
  • Horses with the abilty to handle wet tracks are favoured.  HK's surface is more uniform throughout the year, but horses that handle the cut out of the ground are favoured in Macau and even more so in Singapore. While the majority of racing is on the grass, HK, Macau and Singapore all periodically race on sand/dirt tracks.
  • Front runners are preferred or horses who race handy to the pace. Generally speaking the tempo of the racing is quite fast and there is a bias for horses to be leading or sitting close to the pace. So without stating the obvious good gate speed is favoured.
  • Physically mature and forward animals. The often wet conditions can be detrimental to soft tissue, etc so animals that are more physically mature and developed have a higher chance of staying sound.

While owneship of racehorses is restricted in HK, the prizemoney on offer and the ownership incentives for Australians or any 'foreigner' in both Macau and Singapore are very attractive. For more information on selling horses to Asia, or information on prize money levels and ownership options in both Macau and Singapore please feel free to call Dave Mee on +61 (0)405 129 759.

To set up a meeting with Dave on one of his quarterly trips, to discuss buying quality Australian racehorses please call or email Dave at any time.
